It's been a magical week.
Just after sunset, so many energetic sparks of light flitting in and out of the deep shadows above the grass outside my window.
And yesterday, after months of research and a few misadventures, the last piece arrived—a long lens to take high-quality photos of my art. So excited!
Layers of paint
To get to know my new camera, I took pictures of my studio and recent work.
How do they look together?
I love listening to conversations between artists Alice Sheridan and Louise Fletcher. Their podcast Art Juice is a regular companion and inspiration.
Recently, they discussed the value of looking at your paintings together by spreading them out in one room. This can be helpful when judging if a painting is done—or identifying where to add some variety of color or value between the pieces, especially when creating artwork for an art fair or gallery.
These ideas have been weaving through my thoughts as I paint lately.
I hope your spring is treating you very well—and perhaps fireflies are brightening your evenings!
Sending my love,
-Tamara
